Fishing report 8-24-22

Lake Purdy is gearing up for the fall!

The weather is going to change soon and these fish are feeding up. The water has been cooling off a bit because of the rain, around 81F. Bass are still chasing moving baits, and hit a top-water at the right time as well. Crappie have been getting caught regularly on live bait, as well as, grubs and jigs. Catfish have been active hitting live bait and your favorite smelly catfish baits!

As far as location, bass are still schooling over ledges and staging on points. You can also find them up shallow in the grass. Soon the fall transition will begin, where they put on the feed bag preparing for winter! Crappie are being caught trolling, around brush piles, and lay-downs. Catfish are being caught in the creek channel, around rock piles, and in the slews.

The fishing has been decent this week and is getting better as the weather cools down. Live bait does very well in the late summer and fall, and we have plenty in stock! If you need any information about baits, rentals, or where to go, give us a call at 205-991-9107 or stop by the Bait Shop!
